A big conversation about Malawi's climate change ambitions

On 4 February 2021, the ‘Road to COP26: National Youth Consultative Forum on Climate Change' will take place, to provide young Malawians with the opportunity to highlight their priorities and showcase existing and potential ideas for good practice in addressing climate change.

These ideas will feed into Malawi’s national climate plan, its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) process - and Malawi's National Adaptation Plan, both currently underway.

Youth voices and perspectives will inform Malawi’s ambition and negotiation position at the forthcoming UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom, in November.

Attendance by Hon. Nancy Tembo, MP

We are delighted to announce that the Government of Malawi's Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources, the Hon. Nancy Tembo, will attend the event to share her perspectives on the country's preparations for COP26, and to listen to youth voices.

Representatives from the British High Commission will also highlight priorities of the COP26 Presidency, including non-governmental actors' contribution to the Race to Resilience.

But most of all, young Malawians, this is event is yours - it is your opportunity to take the stage!

Watch the event online

There was a process for young Malawians, aged 18-35 years old, to apply for participant spaces in the event, and all the places are now filled. We're pleased to announce that we will be livestreaming all the plenary sessions of the event, including the speech by Minister Tembo. This will allow many more people to tune in.

The url for the livestream at 14:00 h Malawi time on Thursday 4 February 2021 is: https://youtu.be/uPhs9thrsHw
